General
What is Omni Console?
A fast, cross-platform desktop app for monitoring serial ports and decoding industrial protocols — Modbus, DLMS/COSEM, M-Bus, IEC 62056-21 and MASS — with line sniffing, an online device library, flow automation and AI control.
Which platforms does it run on?
Windows and Linux. macOS is on the roadmap — tell us if you need it.
Does it work with any serial device?
Yes. Any serial line streams into ten display modes (ASCII, HEX, Mixed, Decimal, Binary, Raw, Events) with search and export. The named protocols add command builders and value parsing on top. See features.
Trial & pricing
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 30 days with every feature unlocked, no account and no credit card.
Is it a subscription?
No. Licenses are one-time and lifetime. A single-device license is $39.90; 3- and 5-device licenses are available. See pricing.
How is my license delivered?
After checkout, your license key and receipt will be e-mailed to you. Enter the key in the app to unlock it permanently.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — see our refund policy. The free trial also lets you evaluate everything first.
Can I get a VAT invoice?
Yes. Paddle is the merchant of record and generates a proper tax invoice at checkout.
Protocols & decoding
Which protocols are decoded?
Twelve. Five are parsed into named, unit-aware values — Modbus (RTU/ASCII/TCP), DLMS/COSEM, M-Bus, IEC 62056-21 and MASS — with command builders for Modbus, M-Bus and DLMS. On top of those, DNP3, BACnet MS/TP, HART, IEC 60870-5-101/103, PROFIBUS and the proprietary O1TP are decoded to labelled frames, and any other line streams in raw across ten display modes.
Can it build and send frames?
Yes — frame/command builders for Modbus, M-Bus and DLMS, plus quick-send and a saved sequence library.
What is the online device library?
A GitHub-backed catalogue of Modbus register maps, SHA-256 verified, so a meter or drive decodes by name the moment you connect. See device library.
Sniffing, remote & automation
Can it sniff a live serial line?
Yes — sniff mode inserts Omni Console transparently and decodes both directions, on Windows and Linux. See sniff mode.
Can I reach a remote device?
Yes — open a remote Linux device's serial port over SSH and decode it locally. See remote edge.
How does flow automation work?
Build logic as visual blocks or a Python-flavoured DSL, triggered on RX match, timeout, connect or a schedule — sandboxed with step and time budgets. See flows.
AI & privacy
Can an AI agent control the app?
Yes — an embedded MCP server (28 tools, localhost only) lets Claude or any MCP client open ports, send frames, read & decode the trace, and build sequences and flows, cooperatively with the GUI. See AI control.
Is my data sent anywhere?
The app runs locally — captured data and your trace stay on your machine, and the MCP server binds to 127.0.0.1 only. The website uses cookieless analytics. See our privacy policy.
